EPCOT Wine Evenings
The other morning on the way to school with my girls, I mentioned that I wouldn't be home for dinner that evening. One of my twins (Libby) rolled her eyes and said, "now what?"
I explained that Brian and I had sent e-mails to all of our Members who were going to be in town asking them to stop by for a glass of wine at the kiosk outside of the France pavillion in EPCOT on April 28.

The other twin (Jenny) commented that she had never heard of a company doing so many different things to get established. She's right, I guess. But the funny thing is that the kids only hear about the ideas that actually make it to reality. I don't mention the ones that get shot down! Ask Brian some time about some of the crazy ideas I've come up with that never see the light of day!

Anyway, we thought we try the glass of wine at France idea since, as a web based business, we rarely get to meet our Members.

So, we hoped some of our Members would stop by and introduce themselves and have a glass of wine. I was there from 7:30 until when Illuminations started. I figured that even if I wound up standing there by myself, at least I was at the wine kiosk.

Well, it turned out to be a blast. Julie and CY, from Seattle had just gotten their Locker the night before for the first time. She was all excited and CY was wondering what all of the fuss was about. Gee, where have we heard that before????
Pam(matysgranma) and her husband Tom are some of our original Beta Trial Members and have been to Orlando more than either of us can count.

New Members John and Theresa also stopped by. They joined last December and this was their second trip using Owner's Locker. Using Owner's Locker was John's idea. He was the early adopter and Theresa was the skeptic. While we were chatting, a group of folks in town for a convention stopped by to hear what all of the fuss was about. I described Owner's Locker, offered to give them a brochure, but they said, "no thanks."
Interestingly, they came back 10 minutes later and asked for brochures. Hmmmmm.

Pretty soon, some more purple T-shirts rolled up. Laura(jiggerj) and her husband Dave, Marilyn(idratherbeinwdw) and Millie(My3Neils) and her husband, Ken(KNWViking2.0) (you'll have to trust me that he's on the other end of the glass of red wine on the right!)
What a good idea. We saw some old friends; met new Members for the first time and got a group of passers by thinking about Owner's Locker. I think we'll do it again.
I really enjoyed telling my twins that it was a good idea!
John

Maybe you can do it again during the Food & Wine Festival.

Rita,
We're going to give it a try when we have a lot of Members in. This week, there are 25 in town; next week there are 30. As we keep growing it will probably become fairly regular. I really had a good time.

What a fun idea! Any reason to spend an evening Epcot is a good reason to me

I hope this idea keeps going until we get there in August.

Thanks, for stopping by, Laura. it was great to see you, Dave and that adorable son, Cooper. Brian is going to join me Tuesday when we try it again. If it's popular, we'll keep it up, Tracy.

Oh yeah! Wishful counting. Though it wouldn't be the first time I just flew in for a drinks event in FL.

EPCOT Wine Evening May 6, 2008

Brian and his gorgeous wife, Jenny (whom he met when they both worked in Fantasyland in the college program) joined me for another wine in France at EPCOT. It was an absolutely beautiful evening. Sharon (sam_sam) and Mike from Kansas stopped by for a drink:

There were at WDW for a race Sunday morning. Sharon mentioned that she had run through EPCOT and preferred the slower pace with a glass of wine. Mike works in computergraphics and wants OL to rent large scale monitors so he can work while he's here.

Here's Brian's wife, Jenny with Jack and Marcia from Scotia, New York. Like me, they bought Old Key West in 1992...but not from Brian. Their daughter was a cast member at the time so they bought their points 15% cheaper that I did. Dang it.

Marcia says that their locker is so full, there's an imprint from the inside of the Locker lid on their sheets!

And here's the elusive Brian with Kathy and David (Daddio) from Ontario. Note that Brian is out of uniform! David and Kathy are Beta Trial Members and they're both tireless supporters of OL.

The next EPCOT wine evening is Tuesday the 13th and Noel (nono) is threatening to show up---which I hope she does with her adorable daughter and new son!

John

Looks like a good time was had by all. I did not know Brian owned any other clothes other than purple shirts and khaki shorts.

Maybe there will be a gathering in December when I am down.

Well I'm happy to say I finally met Brian during the May 13th Wine Evening.

He commented that he was working in the warehouse all day and his purple shirt was stinky.

Hey guys, can't you afford to have an extra OL shirt for stinky days?

A heartfelt THANK YOU for my Epcot beer-a-thon last Tuesday. Very good to see everyone, even if I was already falling apart that early in our trip!

BTW, serious discussion around more points or a second locker? In all seriousness, we can see ourselves being comfy in a 1 br for some time to come if we can store two airbeds for the kids....so we're thinking, thinking, thinking...

Well, we thought we'd try it again......

The scene.......

The hosts.....(Brian's the one out of uniform and drinking something other than wine)--photo courtesy of Doc

Noel (nono) Eric, Kona and the beautiful Leilani (who was having a bad camera day) from southern New Jersey

Birgit (far left) and Tina (far right)--our first German members. And, that's Laura M from Columbus, Indiana in the middle. Her husband was more impressed with the lake

Rob (Doc) from Indiana and Doug & Rita (ghost 1000) from Pennsylvania

The Brown family (da browns) from Louisiana

John and Deanna along with their son, Bryce, who was celebrating his 7th birthday

Judy S ( who brought this hat along to show how it had survived inside her Locker (that still doesn't explain why she put it in her Locker in the first place!?!?!)). Judy is from Ann Arbor if that helps.

The Rozons from Massachusetts

John, it was great fun meeting up with you and some old and new OL buddies in France. Yes, your daughter's correct when she tells you (in her own words) just how above and beyond you go for us and your business. For that we send a heartfelt thank you to you and Brian.
