Taking Owners Locker on a cruise?
We have booked a cruise for April 2013 on the Carnival Freedom & I am thinking about taking our Owners locker on the ship with us. Last time we went on a cruise we just left it in the hire car, This time we are staying overnight in Orlando when we arrive & then driving down to Fort Lauderdale early the following morning. It seems silly to pay for carhire for a week when its just standing in the car park & also having to pay for parking the car ($15 per day) just to leave the locker in the car. We could drop off the luggage with the baggage handlers at the port 1st, then drop the car off at the airport & get the cruise transport or even a taxi from there as its only 2 miles.
Has anyone had any bad experiences taking their locker onboard ship? Do the luggage handlers object to anything other than cases?
Perhaps they would be ok with it if we give them a bigger tip?

I don't see why you can't take your Locker on the cruise with you. Lockers go on DCL cruises all of the time...Lockers like cruises, too.

The only advice I give Members is to be careful with glass. The DCL luggage handlers are gorillas and I suspect the Carnival luggage crew is not much better.

If you don't want to take your Locker on the cruise and you'll be passing through Orlando by car or plane, contact me through the OL site and we can discuss how to coordinate a delivery and pickup.

Thanks John, we've decided we're going to take it with us. I worked out some figures last night & its going to save us quite a bit by taking it on the ship. Dont think theres any glass in it but i will check through everything before we go to the ship.
