Recovering From The Cold Snap: The Everyday Adventures Of The Purple Van January, 14, 2010
Well, the recent cold snap is over and the horticulture crews were fanning out across Walt Disney World today to address the damage caused by almost a week of subfreezing temperatures at night.
As I was coming out of Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort this morning, the landscape crew was cutting back these severely damaged tiboucina (or princess flower) trees.
I love the landscaping at the Disney resorts...particularly the lush plants at Caribbean Beach. And, these trees in particular are some of my favorites. The usually have dark green leaves which are now crispy brown and are often colored in bright purple flowers.
I guess it's good news that the trees are just being severely cut back instead of being removed entirely like the banana trees. Hopefully, in the next few weeks we'll see them return to their purple glory...
