Early Walt Disney World Memorabilia At Disney's Pop Century Resort: The Everyday Adventures Of The Purple Van January 24, 2010
Ever wonder what the front page of the Orlando Seninel looked like on the opening day of Walt Disney World?
Have you seen the matchbook covers from the original Walt Disney World resorts?
Do you remember the Look and Life Magazines cover stories about WDW?
How about an early "doggie bag" from one of the Disney restaurants?
All you have to do is stroll through the lobby at Disney's Pop Century Resort and you'll see all of these things along with tons of other memorabilia of the last half of the 20th century...it's like a mini-Smithsonian.
Nobody themes a hotel lobby like Disney and Pop century is no exception. It's a bit of a shame that most of us think of hotel lobbies as a place to quickly pass through at the beginning and end of our vacation. The Disney resort lobbies are true destinations and are well worth the time to linger and check things out.
By all means, head over to Pop Century and relive your childhood on the wall with a timeline from 1950 t0 2000.
The photo you see here is in the 1970's section of the wall...
