Bok Tower Gardens: The Everyday Adventures Of The Purple Van November 1, 2009
If you're wondering where on earth this tower is located at Walt Disney World...the short answer is...it isnt.
This is Bok Tower and it's located about 45 minutes away from WDW, towards Tampa.
Your trusty purple van driver had a day off today and my wife and I drove out to Bok Tower for what is always a pleasant afternoon.
The tower sits in the middle of beautiful gardens on a hill 300 feet about the surrounding landscape. I know it's hard to imagine a hill in Central Florida!
And then the tower itself which is 200 feet tall and contains a 60 bell carillon that you can hear daily at 1:00 and 3:00. The couple at the base of the tower will give you a feel for its size.
I share this with you as a brief reminder that, while we all love Walt Disney World, there is life outside the bubble. An occasional trip to a place like this is a fantastic break if you have a car.
