Bay Lake Tower At Disney's Contemporary Resort: The Everyday Adventures Of The Purple Van July 24, 2009
Today's "Everyday Adventure" is really more of an "Extraordinary Adventure." The purple van drivers were really excited when we got a call asking us to stop by Disney's latest resort: Bay Lake Tower At Disney's Contemporary Resort. We were hoping for a tour...and we got one alright...but is was of the luggage room!
Like everyone else, the purple guys are really excited about this resort--and it looks fantastic. But we were asked to visit today by the managers coordinating the opening of Bay Lake Tower. One of the Disney resorts task force members knew about us from Disney's Beach Club Resort and Villas and wanted us to go over how we handle Lockers with the folks who supervise the front desk, operations and bell services at the Contemporary.
We've certainly made lots of deliveries to the Contemporary, but our presence will increase dramatically when the new Bay Lake Tower opens next month. Resort management just wanted to make sure everything involving our Lockers was handled smoothly.
It was great. We were shown an out-of-the way entrance to the luggage room that will very convenient and we discussed a dedicated area for us to drop off Lockers so the bell services staff would know exactly where to look.
Likewise it will be easy for us knowing that Lockers that we need pick up will always be in the same place. We also walked through the procedure how to get the notification on our Members' reservations that their Locker had been delivered so that are made aware of this at check-in. (We used to have to stand in a check-in line to do this!)
This will make life fantastically efficient for us and the resort. And, I have nothing but praise for the Disney resorts crew for wanting to make sure things move smoothly for their guests.
We all see bits of magic "on stage" as they call it, but there's an awful lot of that pixie dust stuff going on behind the scenes as well!
Gee, what a difference a couple of years makes. When we first started Owner's Locker, we actually worried that the purple van might be turned away at the security gates of the resorts.
On the contrary, we have been welcomed at every resort we service and we've grown to the point where now we are just thought of as part of the fabric. I apologize if this doesn't sound very modest but it made me and Brian very proud to meet in that luggage room today!

Now I feel bad that we are having our lockers dropped off at the contemporary the day before BLT opens instead of BTL opening day like originally planned.
We decided to come a day early so that we could check into BLT early on opening day. :-)

First of all, I'm envious of anyone getting a peek at my new "home" before me! ;)
But it's awesome that they are actually seeking y'all out and wanting to be prepared to work with you. It shows they see you as important to their guests' experience and as a valuable partner. This can only be (in large part) due to the way in which you interact with them and the positive working relationships you've built everywhere you go. Congrats and keep up the good work!!

How exciting! It's nice to know that Disney wants to take such good care of us! I'm so excited to stay at BLT in January. But, I'll see my luscious locker in September at Boardwalk Villas.

What an awesome day for you guys. Congratulations on becoming such a regular presence at WDW, that they contact you when a new DVC resort opens. That's really something, Im definitely impressed. Applause! Fanfare! Confetti! Baloons! And thanks for a bit of a peek behind the scenes. :)

Hey Tara, thanks for the very kind words. I tried to check out the lobby while we were there but it's all locked up. I've got to say that it looks unbelievable!
We were very pleasantly surprised when we were asked to come over. (understatement)
